
Hawthorns rooftop swing dance
well, what great gig this weekend and what a laugh (well it is now, but wasn't at the time) we were booked to play at The Hawthorns centre at Aldridge and two choices to either play indoors on one of the floors in the centre, or up on the roof terrace - we opted for the roof terrace - the weather looked good, so we went for it. Well now, don't really know where to start. What an absolutely outstanding event at this really impressive 'mock up' vintage village with authentic streets and pubs and little restaurants. The place just oozes character and creates a fantastic buzz. The Kalamazoo Dance Band were invited to play for the entire weekend and so we started in the WI hall which was a bit like an Oast House with no opening Windows in there to quell the heat - however, that said, blimey the atmospher

North, South, East - not west
blimey what a weekend, in the words of the song As long as I'm moving by Ruth Brown, we did just that. We piled across to Peterborough Parkway club on Friday night for a big band dance with The Kalamazoo Dance Band which was excellent fun and lovely to catch up with the swing dancers some new and others of course great friends.
